The end of June sent local vampires heading for the hills. Rows of garlic, planted as single cloves last fall, were finally ready for harvest. A visiting SPROUT group got the party started, pulling up big beautiful heads. The Growing Food Growing Together families took care of the rest of the field, uprooting our much beloved Alliums and cleaning off the dirt and excess papery skin to prepare our garlic to cure and then store for the upcoming year. Packed with flavor and immunity-boosting properties, garlic is a must for countless garden recipes.
