Our four month Garden Science program is winding to a close with the grand finale field trip to the Washington Youth Garden’s vibrant outdoor classroom. All of our participating elementary school classes are coming out for a full day of programming to reinforce everything we’ve been learning.

The third and fourth graders are engaging their senses and getting their hands dirty as they explore the wonders of the garden. They are tasting sorrel and mint, watching the bees, butterflies and worms in action, pulling up weeds, planting beet and carrot seeds, and harvesting fresh asparagus, herbs and salad greens for our cooking adventure. After all their hard work gardening and cooking, a healthy garden snack really hits the spot!
