Volunteer with the Washington Youth Garden
Volunteering with Washington Youth Garden is a rewarding experience. You don't need to have experience, but you must be willing to make friends with the soil and the bugs! Our volunteers strive to work in the garden 3 hours/week on various organic gardening tasks, such as weeding, planting, pruning, mulching, and pest control. All interested individuals are required to complete a Washington Youth Garden orientation before volunteering.
Volunteer Days and Times:
- Every Saturday April-October, 9AM-noon
- Every Tuesday March-November, 9AM-noon
- Orientations are the first Saturday of the month, April-October
Please contact our Garden Manager, Jake Dacks, at firstname.lastname@example.org with the Subject: Volunteering with Washington Youth Garden to sign up for an orientation and start!
Is your company or organization looking to engage in service work? Are you ready to get dirty in our fruit and vegetable garden, laying wood chips, pulling weeds, or turning the compost? Volunteering with Washington Youth Garden is a fun and active outdoor experience that is sure to build staff cohesion outside the office. All volunteer experiences last approximately 3-4 hours and involve an orientation of Washington Youth Garden, a short tour, and an opportunity to taste something directly from the garden.
Our organization depends on a combination of volunteer labor and financial sponsorship to keep our outdoor classroom growing. Your financial contribution will help buy the seeds, trees, tools, and educational materials needed to sustain our garden and programs.
Groups are asked to donate:
- $125 - 10 volunteers
- $250 - 20 volunteers
NOTE: Volunteer groups are a minimum of 5 and maximum of 25 individuals. All volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Please contact our Garden Manager at email@example.com with the Subject: Group Volunteering with The Washington Youth Garden to schedule.
We are looking for individuals with some education, gardening, or science background to help with our educational programs. This is a great opportunity to learn how to facilitate hands-on nutrition and garden science lessons in a garden setting.
