Entering R ST and Bladensburg RD NE
Once you get to the end of R St you will pass through the Arboretum gates. You’ll see a welcome sign on the right with an arrow that points to the right toward the “Gardens and Collections.” Take this first/immediate right. Immediately you’ll see another sign. Follow the arrow for “Gardens and Collections/ Picnic Area.” Note: On this road you will pass the Azalea collection on the hill to your right and the Capital Columns in the meadow to your left. Proceed on this road until you approach a fork (you will see Grove of State Trees/Picnic Area and Restroom & Fern Valley signage). Bear left towards the Yield sign and continue to your left.
WYG Special Events parking: You will turn right at the One Way sign (Grove of State Trees, Picnic Area and Restroom area). Parallel parking is available on opposite sides of the grass strip. Depending on the direction you park, the WYG is accessible by foot to your left (if facing the picnic area) or to your right facing the Capital Columns). Continue walking until you reach the purple arbors. You are now at the WYG!
WYG non Special Events parking or bikers or visitors on foot: After bearing to your left and proceeding to the Yield sign, you will continue on the road toward Fern Valley. (You will see sign pointing straight ahead). Along the way, to your right, you will see an area readily distinguishable by purple arbors. This is the WYG. Visitors on foot can enter the garden through either of these arbors. Drivers or bikers should continue until you reach a stop sign. Go past the stop sign, and to your immediate right is a parking area and bike rack. Proceed back in the direction of those purple arbors which will lead you into the WYG!
