Start making plans now to get involved with Growing Healthy Schools Week October 15-20th. You can participate by planning a field trip to the Washington Youth Garden!

Growing Healthy Schools Week celebrates school gardens and farm to school programs throughout the District of Columbia. During the week, school staff will work with local non-profits, farms and chefs to coordinate inspiring activities aimed at engaging the broader community, increasing environmental literacy, building program capacity, and connecting students to their food.

Check out the Growing Healthy Schools Week website for a schedule of events, resources, and other ways to participate.

Arboretum Access

The U.S. National Arboretum recently announced that, due to sequestration budget pressures, it will be closed to the general public three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) beginning May 14, 2013. Field trips and volunteer times will continue as planned. However, the Washington Youth Garden will be inaccessible to public visitors on these days.

We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate these changes.

Summer Internships

The Washington Youth Garden is currently seeking summer interns to work with us during June and July.

Field Trip Assistants will work with our science-based field trip program (SPROUT). A perfect opportunity for anyone looking to build their skills and experience in garden-based education.

Our Summer Communications Intern will put writing and media skills to help share the Youth Garden story.

Reserve your field trip!
