September 2nd 2014, I started the Fall internship. The Washington Center helped by matching me with the Washington Youth Garden.
At the first day, Nadia and Noah welcomed me, eating lunch together at the Union Market. Such good co-workers they are!
I have painted and drilled butterfly and plant signs for the butterfly garden,
built a sand box in the natural play ground and a bird nest which took full straight 3 hours with Nadia,
and enjoyed helping with gardening and field trips.
Now I go to DC elementary schools every Tuesday and Thursday to help Foodcorps members, Karen and Laurel. I observe the kindergarten and 3rd grade classes and made some educational materials.
Young students were so adorable!!
Through the internship in the Washington Youth Garden, I found that I have a talent in painting and building. Haha. Now I am a master in weeding, harvesting and digging garden beds!
I didn’t realize before that a beautiful garden needs so much devotion, affection, perspiration and cooperation with co-workers. I will miss all in the Washington Youth Garden when I back to Korea.
Thank you for giving me delightful memories!
